UZU UGOCHUKWU

Ugo Uzu holds a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Benin and a master’s in management from the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. He has over 17 years of oil industry experience. Ugo joined the oil industry after a brief stint in construction; as an offshore Engineer with Schlumberger in Norway. He has since worked in various capacities and locations. He moved from Norway to Aberdeen in 2005 as Drilling Services Manager responsible for execution of several key Drilling projects for the Oil & Gas Majors in the North Sea. In 2011, he moved from Aberdeen to Nigeria in the role of HR Manager for the Schlumberger Drilling group covering West Africa from Lagos. He developed HR policies, drove local content development and ensured talent management and retention of over 600 employees in 5 countries – Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Ivory Coast & Ghana.

He returned to Norway in 2013 as General Manager of Smith business unit in Norway responsible for the technical and commercial integration of the newly acquired business into the Schlumberger drilling group portfolio. In 2015, he moved back to Aberdeen in his current role as General Manager for the Schlumberger Drilling businesses in Europe
He is chairman of the Gender Diversity committee for Schlumberger UK and is passionate about diversity and inclusion in in the Oil & Gas industry.
