Uchenna Ibe

Uchenna is a chartered engineer who is certified by both the UK Engineering Council and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is an energy industry expert with knowledge and experience across Oil & Gas, clean and renewable energy technologies. Uchenna has over 13 years’ experience working on greenfield energy projects across Africa and Europe. He started his career as a graduate mechanical engineer working on oil & gas projects off the coast of West Africa, and later as a subsea pipeline engineer in the UK North Sea, before transitioning to the clean energy & renewables sector 8 years ago. Since making the transition to the clean energy sector, he has worked for global leaders (Iberdrola & RWE) in the industry, supporting project origination, development and implementation across different technologies and geographies.

Uchenna holds a BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering (Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria), MSc in Engineering Management (University of Sunderland, UK), MSc in Subsea Engineering (University of Aberdeen, UK) and an MBA (Imperial College Business School, UK). During his MBA studies, he led a consultancy project for a London-based Private Equity company looking to diversify into Green Hydrogen. The consultancy and advice provided led the client to establish a green hydrogen production business that is now well-funded and expanding quickly.

Uchenna currently volunteers at the University of Aberdeen as a mentor for postgraduate students considering careers in clean energy & renewables.
