RETECH Foundation Launches the Paint Your School Initiative.

The RETECH Foundation Paint Your School (PYS) initiative was launched at the University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School on the 27th of November 2020. The PYS initiative is one of the initiatives under the RETECH Foundation Good Citizenship Programme. We designed the PYS initiative in such a way that pupils will participate in the painting of their classrooms supervised by a painting instructor, teachers, parents, and school alumni representatives. We believe this will be beneficial to the students and their school by promoting values and competencies like:

  • Responsibility – students will be responsible for the cleanliness of their learning environment.
  • Helping Out – students will learn to assist others and carry this life lesson throughout their school days and beyond.
  • Teamwork – students will learn to work as part of a team and improve their interpersonal skills by contributing and collaborating to ensure the success of the task at hand.
  • Entrepreneurship – students will learn the ‘can do’ attitude which will serve them well in the future.

A total of 50 Senior Secondary School 1 (SS1) students of UDSS Benin participated in the PYS initiative. The students painted their classrooms under the supervision of a painting instructor, teachers, and alumni of UDSS.

We presented Good Citizenship certificates to all 50 students for showing outstanding citizenship at the UDSS Benin PYS initiative.  We also presented Good Citizenship certificates to the principal, Mrs Modupe Agugba; a teacher, Mr Omorodion Enehizena Luke; Alumni, Ifeanyi Akpe and Titi Salami; and the painting instructor, Akinola Sampson, in recognition of their outstanding support to RETECH Foundation.
