On the 10th of July 2021, RETECH Foundation (RF) launched 10 RETECH Foundation Book Clubs (RFBCs) at the Federal Government College, Ilorin in collaboration with Books2Africa, GC IMC and Alumni of FGC Ilorin.
The 10 RFBCs are made up of 80 Senior Secondary School students with each club having a total of 8 members. 8 copies each of books from African Authors such as ‘The Passport of Mallam Ila’ by Cyprian Ekwensi, ‘Dear Ijeawele’ by Chimamanda Adichie and ‘Whispering Trees’ by Abubakar Ibrahim were given to our club members.
Special thanks to Books2Africa and Akin Doherty (FGC Ilorin Alumnus) for funding this Initiative and to Uade Ahimie, an alumnus of FGC Ilorin for donating 40 copies of his book titled ‘Crapifart Perspective for an Emerging Market’ to our Book Clubs. Our thanks also go to Mrs Adebayo Hafsah, Principal FGC Ilorin, Diran Adeyemi, RETECH Foundation’s Champion in Ilorin and Mrs Ephraim, teacher FGC Ilorin, for your roles in setting up the RFBCs in FGC Ilorin.
