Impact Story: Scholar Odike Ikechukwu Clement

We awarded a RETECH Foundation merit scholarship to Ikechukwu Odike in 2019 for finishing top in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Kings College, Lagos. The scholarship award was for a period of 3 years from SS1 to until he finished his secondary school education. To motivate Ikechukwu to maintain his excellent academic performance in the BECE, the continuity of the scholarship award was on the condition that he continues to excel academically. Well, we are pleased to announce that Ikechukwu has just finished his secondary school education at Kings College, Lagos. He sat the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and he made 6A1s and 3Bs in the examination. He also sat the University Tertiary Matriculation Exam (UTME) and made a score of 316 out of 400. A score above 300 in the UTME examination is an exceptionally good score as only a few people out of the thousands who write the exam each year are able to achieve this. Ikechukwu intends to study Medicine and Surgery.

One of the main reasons for awarding the scholarship programme, besides ensuring talented students are not denied education due to a lack of funding, is to motivate such students to excel academically and to be the best version of themselves. We are proud to be a part of Ikechukwu’s success story and are convinced he has developed the skills, temperament and can-do attitude required for success at University.

Congratulations Ikechukwu, we wish you more successes at University and beyond.
